3 CD’s with 43 Tunes, this Cd presents almost the complete collection of those priceless early recordings of Mickey Doherty. Mickey was a travelling fiddler, tinsmith and storyteller and a member of the Doherty or ‘Simi’ family from An Clochan Mór near Ballybofey and Baile na Finne in Co. Donegal and a brother of the famous fiddler John Doherty. The Dohertys, a long established family of travelling musicans and tinsmiths dominated the recent history of traditional music of Donegal.
This CD has extensive notes contained in a 36 page booklet. It features Hornpipes, Reels, Single Jigs, Double Jigs, Highlands Marches, Airs and descriptive pieces.
