Leabhar ar leith é seo, é níos mó agus níos cuimsithí ná an chéad eagrán a foilsíodh i 1990, agus a ghnóthaigh iomrá ag an am. This is a special book, larger and more comprehensive than the first edition published in 1990, which gained notoriety at the time. On one level, it is a collection of hundreds of short extracts from Irish language literature – excellent examples of ideas, poetry, sayings, and things of value – composed since Irish pen was first put to paper in the sixth century. Questions are discussed in them: for example, the attitude of the community in Gaelic life towards the clergy, the role of different types of songs as a source of encouragement and courage among different classes of the community, nationality vs nationalism, the importance and future of the Gaeltacht, the three major reasons which brought the decline of the Irish language in the nineteenth century. There is a new comprehensive general index to this edition which greatly adds to its value.
